EBOO is a continuous-flow, blood-based ozone procedure performed through a controlled extracorporeal circuit.
What Is EBOO?
EBOO stands for extracorporeal blood oxygenation and ozonation.
Blood is withdrawn through vascular access and moved through an external circuit at a controlled rate. Within the circuit, it passes through a filtration component and is exposed to a calibrated oxygen–ozone mixture before being returned to the body.
How EBOO Differs From High-Dose Ozone
High-dose ozone treats measured amounts of blood through repeated cycles.
EBOO continuously circulates blood through an extracorporeal system and can process a larger blood volume during a treatment session.
The procedures are not interchangeable. The appropriate method is selected according to the patient’s evaluation and treatment plan.
Optional Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation
The EBOO configuration may also incorporate ultraviolet blood irradiation, or UVBI.
When included, blood traveling through the extracorporeal circuit is exposed to selected ultraviolet and visible-light wavelengths before returning to the patient.
UVBI is an optional component—not a substance infused into the bloodstream. Its inclusion is determined individually.
